Lilongwe city holds her summit

Minister of Local Government unity and culture Honourable Richard Chimwendo Banda is presiding at the Lilongwe city Summit underway at Bingu International Convention centre( BICC) in Lilongwe.

Lilongwe city is holding her first ever summit under the theme my city my responsibility together building the city we want.

Some on the the issues being discussed during the summit are waste. Management, street vending, Green and leisure and infrastructure development.

Minister of Local Government unity and culture Richachard Chimwendo Banda speaking as he was officially opening the event said political efforts said political interferences have made difficult to erase street vending in the country.

“We are not saying street vending is bad but let us do it legally and clear demacations should be set as other countries . What’s scary is that currently everyone is doing business as they which becomes dangerous interns of security , hygiene
and difficult to clean the city it does not look beautiful.

His worship mayor Richard Banda argued stakeholders to join hands with Lilongwe city council for the summit to be successful in transforming the city. The council will make sure to remove all vendors in streets to markets.

” Some should go to Kawale and some to Bwandilo markets as there are still places there let’s work together we can’t be successful alone ,as the council we lack some of the resources this makes it difficult to implement the strategies as we do not have the capacity to work on our own.

Some of the delegates on this summit are Chief Executive Officer of Lilongwe city council Dr . Macloud D.A. Kadamanja , the principal secretary Mr James Chiusiwa, former mayor of Lilongwe city council Juliana Kaduya , leaders of Blantyre city ,Zomba city , Mzuzu city some ,Government officials and various business stake holders .
