Road Accident Cost Two Lives In Chikwawa

Two people in Chikwawa District have lost their lives after sustaining serious injuries during the road accident that happened last night.

Dickson Matemba who is the Chikwawa Police Public relations officer confirmed the issue by saying that the accident has happened at a place named Thom in the night of 14 May 2023 along the M1 road, Ngabu in the district.

Hawa Wakati , from Jombo village, Traditional Authority Lundu and Prosper Chidatha of Chipakuza village Traditional Authority Lundu in the same district of Chikwawa are the people who have been Identified died.

Soon after the accident, the injured were been taken to the St Montfort Hospital for medical treatment where upon arrival were identified dead .

A lorry which carried bales of cotton whose driver escaped soon after the incident, collided with a Toyota Dyna which was driven by a 38-year-old man Douglas Redson of Chipakuza Village.

The Toyota Dyna carried about 30 passengers who were coming from the football match.

Police in Chikwawa are looking for the driver who is on the run to answer charges of careless driving.
