Vitumbiko Mumba Engages Mzimba Central Professionals on Constituency Development
Member of Parliament for Mzimba Central, Honourable Vitumbiko Mumba, has intensified efforts to mobilize professionals from the constituency in support of its development agenda.
Mumba was speaking after a productive and interactive meeting with professionals from Mzimba Central held at Lilongwe Hotel on Sunday. The meeting brought together professionals committed to contributing their knowledge, skills and resources towards the growth and development of the constituency.
During the gathering, participants elected a Central Region Chapter leadership team. The newly elected team has been tasked with reviewing projects identified by the Area Development Committee (ADC) and collaborating with other regional chapters to establish a Constituency Development Trust (CDT).
According to Vitumbiko Mumba, the proposed CDT has the potential to transform Mzimba Central by promoting sustainable income-generating activities and supporting long-term development initiatives that will improve the livelihoods of local communities.

Mumba said the involvement of professionals in development planning and implementation will help accelerate progress in the constituency and ensure that projects respond to the needs of the people.
The MP also announced that engagements with professionals will continue across the country. The Northern Region Chapter is expected to meet on June 13 at Mzuzu Hotel, while the Southern Region Chapter meeting has been scheduled for June 20 at Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre after an earlier engagement could not take place.
Vitumbiko Mumba expressed confidence that the growing network of professionals will play a key role in advancing development and creating opportunities for people in Mzimba Central.
“Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Mzimba Central Constituency,” said Mumba.
One of the professionals from Mzimba Central at the meeting was Enock Chikhuntha who described the interface as something that in the long run needs to be emulated across the country.
Chikhuntha who has also been incorporated into the Central Region Committee, says it’s very rare for an MP to avail him or herself and seek advice from citizens for development projects.
The initiative is part of Vitumbiko Mumba’s broader vision of fostering inclusive development by bringing together professionals and stakeholders to support sustainable growth and community empowerment in Mzimba Central.
