Mzuzu Stadium Nears Elite Match Standards After Renovation Progress
Mzuzu Stadium is inching closer to reopening for elite football matches following significant progress in the ongoing renovation works.
Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Chairperson Masiya Nyasulu said this on Tuesday after inspecting the facility to assess the status of the renovations and its readiness to host top-flight competitions.
Nyasulu expressed satisfaction with the progress made, noting that the stadium is now nearing the standards required for elite football matches.
“We will continue monitoring the project to ensure the remaining works are completed and the facility is ready for use,” he said.
The inspection was also attended by NRFA Executive Member Joshua Chinguwo, underscoring the association’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure in the Northern Region.

Despite the progress, Mzuzu Stadium remains unavailable for competitive matches as renovation works continue during the 2026 football season.
As a result, FDH Bank Premiership side Moyale Barracks is currently using Rumphi Stadium as its home venue while awaiting the completion of the project.
