Woman Arrested for Murder in Likoma

Police in Likoma have arrested Agnes Msadala, 23, a Mozambican national, for allegedly participating in the brutal murder of a six-year-old girl in the Mbamba area.

The arrest, made on October 22, 2024, followed an investigation into the child’s mysterious death.

According to the mother, she sent her daughter to borrow a knife from Agnes, her neighbor. After returning, the child left the house unnoticed. The mother assumed the child had left with Agnes around 7:00 p.m., but Agnes denied seeing the child when questioned.

The matter was reported to Likoma Police Station, leading to a search that uncovered a wet, blood-stained mattress on Agnes’ roof. She has been charged with murder, contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code [1).

Agnes, from Chiwamila village, Traditional Authority Cobue in Mozambique, will appear in court once paperwork is completed to face charges.

Police are intensifying investigations to arrest all individuals involved in the six-year-old’s killing.
