As government continues to fight and end Cholera in Malawi, Ukhondo Foundation is supporting the efforts with a “WASH project” of it’s own.
According to Caroline Msongole who is the project officer for the foundation, so far they have managed to distribute buckets and soaps in ten different schools around Mlare and Lupembe areas.
Msongole also added that the main aim of doing this project is to make sure that there is no cholera in Mlare and Lupembe areas which are mostly affected by the outbreak.
“Its our vision to make sure that people of Mlare and Lupembe are safe as you know these two areas are always affected by the pandemic every year so we thought it wise to come with the project in time so that we can save lives” Said Msongole.

Furthermore, Msongole said that they are also training pastors, water committees, patrons and matrons from different schools and churches on how they can help in fighting Cholera in the area.
Headmaster for Lemero Primary School Patrick Mulambia has commended Ukhondo foundation for coming up with this project to their area and schools.
“I would like to commend Ukhondo foundation on behalf of all people of Mlare and Lupembe for this wonderful project as we did not have adequate resources to curb this pandemic but with this project I can assure you that we will make sure that project is successful and the area is free from Cholera,” He said
The Wash Project is a one year project funded by World Vision and will end in September 2023.
