Tributes to Thomas Chibade

Sam Smakweli, in an interview with Times Radio on 19 October 2023, says Thomas Chibade was a talented musician, a rare artist of his own. Even after many years of releasing his songs, Thomas could still sing exactly the same rhymes in his songs without leaving out anything. As for some musicians, they still forget and skip some lines in their old songs after a long time. But that was not the case with Thomas Chibade, he would remember all the words.

Simakweli says Chibade was sociable and mixed with others very freely. He noted that the late Thomas was generally a happy man.

Times entertainment journalist described Thomas Chibade as someone who had his own way of writing his songs. He explained that Chibade had his own class of music and has left a big gap that will be very difficult to be filled.

Executive member of the Musicians Union (Central Chapter) , Moses Bramoz Kapito has confirmed the death of Music Legend, Thomas CheNkhumba Chibade.

Chibade had been ill for the past weeks and was in and out of the hospital. On Wednesday 18 October 2023 his condition got critical and he fought to the last breath.

It is said that Chibade had a liver problem.

Chibade will be laid to rest on Saturday 21 October 2023 at his home village, Likaluma, in the Area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba.
