Chimwemwe Idana continues to prove his worthy as he showed class by guiding Silver Strikers past Kamuzu Barracks to go joint top of the table at the Bingu National Stadium.

Pieter De Jongh, Head Coach for the Club on Wednesday blamed the Club’s Board for failing to support him saying Idana’s absence in seven games affected their title chance.

“We missed Chimwemwe Idana for seven games, this affected us. Idana is a player who makes the difference,” he said.

Right after De Jongh’s comment, the former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder stunned the Yellow submarines with the last kick of the game to power the Central Bankers to a 2-1 win.

De Jongh’s men broke the deadlock in the 12th minute through Patrick Macheso who reacted on Atusaye Nyondo’s saved shot but Olson Kanjira reacted with his 10th goal of the second round to draw the game level.

In the late minutes, Idana produced a moment of magic by beating Helbert Wayekha and goal-keeper to place the ball into an empty net.

Silver Strikers have leapfrogged Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to go second with 56 points level with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after 29 games.

Elsewhere, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ poor run of results have reached another height as they stumbled again at the Dedza Stadium to leave the title race open to three teams.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s men have failed to win four league games consecutively, drawing thrice along the process.

Clement Nyondo returned with a bang after injury after pouncing on Lameck Gamphani’s ball in the first minute, the goal that handed Bullets their second defeat of the season. They are yet to win at Dedza Stadium in all competitions.

The people’s team remain second on the table with 56 points from 28 games and they will travel to Karonga United before facing Silver Strikers in their last game.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers missed the chance to go top as they were held to a barren stalemate against Mighty Waka Waka Tigers at the Kamuzu Stadium.

The Nomads had two goals in the net but they were canceled for offside, a result that dragged them to the third position with 55 points from 29 games. They will play Civil Service United in their last game.
