Sun King Unveils 5KVA Inverter to Improve Energy Access in Malawi

has launched a new 5KVA inverter aimed at providing reliable electricity to urban homes, hospitals, schools and businesses across Malawi.
The product is expected to help bridge the energy access gap, especially in rural areas where essential facilities such as hospitals and schools continue to face unreliable power supply.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, said the company identified a growing need for durable and dependable energy solutions to support social institutions in rural communities.
“The key gap was how we can come up with a product that will address that need and provide a durable product on the market,” said Kaliwo.
Kaliwo also revealed that the company plans to introduce mobile phones, refrigerators and other innovative products as part of its long-term commitment to addressing Malawi’s energy challenges.
He added that Sun King is working with various organizations to support digital learning initiatives by supplying power solutions for e-tablets used in schools.
The company’s electrification project focuses on connecting power to schools and households across the country. So far, Sun King says it has connected electricity to about 2,000 schools and electrified more than one million homes nationwide.
Sun King has been operating in Malawi since 2008, with a mission to expand access to electricity in both rural and urban communities.
