Rumphi Police Elects New Station Executive Committee

Rumphi Police station has today elected a new Station Executive Committee (SEC) during a meeting at Josi hall in the district where also Community policing forums were revamped.

Guest honor at the meeting was Traditional Authority Mwahenga. Also in attendance was His worship Cuthbert Phiri, other traditional leaders, Community policing members and other stakeholders in the district.

Speaking during the meeting, Traditional Authority Mwahenga assured the gathering that they are committed to work with the Police in order to make the Rumphi crime free zone.

He further advised the newly elected committee to be vigilant and share all crime related information with the Police and serve the people diligently.

Aaron Nyirenda was then elected as SEC chair and his office term is for two years.

In his acceptance speech, Nyirenda said that he is ready to take the challenges of heading the SEC and also that he is ready to work with everyone in the district.

Nyirenda assured the participants that he will encourage youths in the districts to be engaged in good activities like farming, Business and other more that will help them to bring food on the table rather than being in conflict with law.

He also assured the gathering that as chairperson, he will make sure that there will be regular awareness meetings in each Community Policing Forum to curb crime and inform people on crime reporting procedures.

He further assured all stakeholders that he will try as much as he can to mobilize resources for the sake of securing the district.

On her part, Senior superintendent Beatrice Magwera thanked the participants for their time and has pledged to work with the new committee to secure the district.

She further advised the newly elected committee to work with passion.
