President Chakwera Commissions MAREP 9 in Nsanje

His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has commissioned Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP) phase nine at Nguluwe Village, Traditional Authority Mbenje, Nsanje.

The Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, welcomed the President during the launch.

Senior Chief Chimombo also welcomed President Chakwera, expressing his gratitude for the commissioning of MAREP 9. He was particularly pleased to learn that 300 houses in his area would be installed with electricity at no cost.

President Chakwera is currently in the Lower Shire for a tour of duty.

Earlier in the morning, he visited the Issa Cattle Ranch in Traditional Authority Ngabu, Chikwawa. He is accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera.

Large crowds have gathered along the roads, expressing their joy at the President’s visit.
