Police Recover Stolen Motorcycle, Chase for Suspect in Rumphi

Barely a day after recovering four stolen goats, Police in Rumphi have recovered stolen a motorcycle and other items worthy MK4.2million.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 22 2023 at Chankhomi area.

On June 22, 2023, thieves broked into the house of Thomas Milanzi who works with Cadecom within St Denis Catholic Campus and stole a Yamaha Motorcycle DT125 red and white in colour.

According to the report, it was discovered that on the said date, Milanzi had left his house well locked leaving all property well secured and went to his office .

Later, at around 10:40 hours, he decided to go back home but surprisingly, he found out that the said motorcycle is missing.

He also found out that the keys of the rear door he left inside the house had been thrown 5 metres away from the house and tyre marks showing that the motorcycle was going towards St Denis Primary School.

Upon following these marks with the help of community members, Police found the motorcycle in a certain house at Chankhomi area.

Upon searching the house further, Police recovered other stolen items like two pairs of shoes, a pair of jean trousers and a helmet which was identified by the reporter.

The law enforcers also found other items such as a hummer, chisels and screw drivers which is thought to have been using breaking into buildings.

Meanwhile, Police in the district have launched a manhunt for the suspect and they are appealing to community members who may have information leading to the arrest to come and report.
