In a shocking incident, 42-year-old Darison Jonazi, owner of a local Shebeen in Embangweni, Mzimba, has been arrested for chopping off six toes of a customer, Molala Simwaka, 29.

The attack occurred on September 14, 2024, when Simwaka and his friends, Mavuto, 26, and Roshin Simwaka, 27, visited Jonazi’s Shebeen around midnight.

Jonazi mistakenly believed the trio was attempting to rob him and began beating them. Simwaka fell and was severely beaten before Jonazi cut off five toes from his left foot and one from his right foot.

After realizing the severity of his actions, Jonazi took Simwaka to Embangweni Mission Hospital, where he was later transferred to Mzimba District Hospital and admitted until September 21, 2024.

The Jenda police have warned the community against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that mob justice will not be tolerated.

They urge people to report incidents promptly to ensure prompt police response.
