Mutharika honors Chilima and eight others, a minute of silence
Former President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, has honored the departed Vice President Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima and eight others, who died in the tragic plane crash in the Chikangawa forest in Mzimba district on Monday, 10th June 2024 by inviting all the elective convention delegates and invited guests to stand up for a one- minute silence.
The death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, has brought silence in Malawi as nobody knows what happened for the military aircraft to get missing and crashed in the Chikangawa forest raising one million questions than answers.
Since the tragic death on 10th June, 2024 there has been no Commission of Inquiry instituted to transparently credibly investigate the tragic plane crash only MDF and Germany aircraft manufacturers experts, theirs was not a commission of Inquiry, and no one can force them to release their findings.
Speaking when he officially opened the DPPs elective convention in Blantyre on Sunday, Professor Mutharika urged delegates not to elect those who will sale the party to the highest bidders but capable leaders who have been with the party in times of sorrow and happiness.
Mutharika said he is expecting the delegates to elect leaders who will work with him to bring medicines in the country’s health facilities, and turning around the ailing economy as the party is geared to bounce back in government next year.
He advised delegates to receive whatever the contesting candidates have given them but when it comes to voting, they should vote for those who are not greedy, and thieves claiming that people want the DPP to come back because of managing the country’s economy well and the welfare of the citizens at heart.
The DPP President said it is sad that Malawi has gone back to a one-party state and dictatorship vowing not to allow that in 2025 promising to restore the hard-earned lost democracy as Malawians made a declaration in 1994 that never shall their country go back to a one -party state and dictatorship.
“Time has run out for the MCP to be in government, no one will elect them, they have been tested and failed to run the country in 5 years, their kingdom will be divided among DPP, UDF, UTM, and AFORD,” said Mutharika.
He has assured Malawians that the country will be rescued back from destruction in 2025 reminding Malawians that in 2014 the DPP turned around the country’s ailing economy in 6 months, expressing hope that time has now come to do the same in 2025.
