Matonga Elected New MISA Malawi Chair

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi chapter has officially announced Golden Matonga of platform to investigative journalism as the new MISA chairperson replacing Tereza Ndanga who her term ended.

Matonga has today secured the position of MISA Malawi chairperson with 251 votes beating his opponent Wonder Msiska of Times Group who had 112 votes. Chisomo Nguluwe of Kulinji.com has secured the position of vice chairperson with 179 votes.

Speaking after the official annoucition Matonga said he is going to immediately implement his campaign manifesto under the theme let journalism thrive. He is also ready to work with different stakeholders and organisations and put aside their differences.

” I was privileged to have Steve Zimba as a contestant but Nathan Majawa has been chosen we respect people’s choice and I believe we had different policies but we are to work together putting at heart the best interest of journalism.”

Nathan Majawa of Malawi Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has been voted as the executive member with 140 votes.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) supervised the process which was conducted in three regions of the country. Central region voting place was Crossroads hotel in Lilongwe , Southern Blantyre Nation publications Limited offices and in the North at Mzuzu Times offices.
