Malawi Sends Vice-President Ansah to Angola for Strategic AU–EU Summit Engagement
Vice-President Justice Dr Jane Mayemu Ansah SC, JA (Retired), has departed Kamuzu International Airport for Luanda, Angola, leaving at 8:10 a.m. to undertake a significant diplomatic responsibility on behalf of Malawi.
Her departure follows the directive of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, who selected her to spearhead Malawi’s delegation at the 7th African Union–European Union Summit.
Set for 24 to 26 November 2025, the summit is expected to draw influential leaders from both continents for high-level dialogue.
This year’s theme, Promoting Peace and Prosperity through Effective Multilateralism, highlights the desire for stronger partnerships between Africa and Europe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Dr Ansah’s assignment in a statement issued on 21 November 2025.
The ministry indicated that the meeting will address areas requiring deeper cooperative efforts between the two sides.
Peace and security are anticipated to be central to the discussions, alongside issues of governance and broader development objectives.
By attending the summit, Dr Ansah positions Malawi as an active participant in regional and global policy conversations.
Her appointment as delegation leader underscores government trust in her ability to articulate Malawi’s interests on the international platform.
The Luanda gathering is expected to create opportunities for renewed engagement between African and European institutions.
