Local Government Ministry Reshuffles Council Directors to Improve Service Delivery

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has reshuffled directors across councils nationwide as part of efforts to improve service delivery. The transfers are aimed at strengthening operations and enhancing development implementation in local councils.

is among the councils affected by the changes, with reports indicating that four directors have received transfer letters notifying them of their new duty stations.

Speaking during a District Executive Committee meeting held at the Boma on Thursday, the council’s Director of Planning and Development, Mercy Mpakule, confirmed her transfer to . She said she will spend the remainder of the month preparing handover notes before officially assuming her new role.

Mpakule thanked council staff and development partners for the support they rendered during her tenure, describing her time in Dowa as productive due to the strong cooperation among stakeholders.

She expressed hope that the same support would be extended to the incoming Director of Planning and Development to ensure continued progress in implementing development projects.

“I pray that you continue offering the same support to the incoming DPD for the district to move forward in service delivery,” she said.

On the reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Mpakule disclosed that the long-awaited guidelines have now been approved. She said council officials are already on the ground establishing Constituency Development Committees to facilitate smooth implementation of the basket fund.
