Kapichira Hydro Power Station is Back

Electricity Generation Company(EGENCO) has announced that Kapichira Hydro Power station has resumed to it’s operation to initial production of 32.4 Megawatts.
Public Relations Manager for EGENCO Felix Gwaza says one machine has started running and they are expecting to add another machine by Thursday Night, April 6, 2023.
” We are happy that one machine has started operating and we are also expecting that another machine will start it’s operation by Thursday night 6 April, 2023.”
Gwaza continue to say that they are expecting to reach a target of 3 out of 4 machine to start running as rehabilitation works continues.
Kapichira Hydro Power Station is expected to produce 129 Megawatts once all machines has start it’s operation.
Kapichira Hydro Power station machines were damaged by cyclone Anna in February 2022.
