Kabambe Calls for Unity and Hard Work After UTM Convention Victory
The newly elected president for the United Transformation Movement UTM Dr Dalitso Kabambe said it was not an easy journey for him to be elected as Party president.

“The strife within UTM was inevitable, especially after the loss of our towering pillar, Dr. Saulos Chilima,” said Dr. Kabambe in his acceptance speech.
Dr. Kabambe, a former Reserve Bank governor, expressed gratitude and humility in his remarks, congratulating all the candidates he competed against.

“I commend each and every one of you for your dedication and spirit throughout this contest. It was not an easy journey for any of us,” he said.
Reflecting on the competition
“Honestly, I never thought I would emerge victorious when I arrived here today. This has been a tough and closely fought contest.”

He called for unity and collective effort moving forward.
“To those who have emerged victorious in various roles, this is not the end but the beginning. It is now time to roll up our sleeves and work tirelessly for the betterment of our party and the people we serve.”
Dr. Kabambe concluded by emphasizing the need to honor the legacy of Saulos Chilima by continuing to strengthen the party and its mission.

Dalitso Kabambe defeated Newton Kambala, Patricia Kaliati, and Mathews Chinombo Mtumbuka with 26, 21, and 22 votes, respectively.
