Deputy Minister of Homeland Security Norman Chisale has assured Malawians that passport production will speed up following the installation of new machines.

Chisale made the remarks in Blantyre during an unannounced visit to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services headquarters, where he confirmed that the equipment is now fully operational.

He said the department will begin round-the-clock production of passport booklets, with simultaneous processing taking place in Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Mangochi.

Meanwhile, the department’s spokesperson Pasqually Zulu said the new machines are expected to ease congestion and significantly reduce long queues.

Malawi has for years struggled with passport production challenges, leading to delays in service delivery.
