Flames coveted forward, Gaddie Chirwa has become the most expensive player in Super League following the completion of his move from Police Headquarters, Blue Eagles to Airtel Top-8 Cup Champions Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

The deal has been the topic for the past weeks as Blue Eagles were demanding K15 Million for the former Mzuni FC striker.

Personal terms between Gaddie and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers were agreed weeks ago but agreement between the two teams was the biggest problem and Eagles labelled Nomads’ act as Political ‘antics’.

“Let Wanderers learn to run football professionally. There is no way they would set a selling price for a player who belongs to another team. We bought players like Brighton Munthali from Silver Strikers; do they know how much we spent on the player?” Blue Eagles Vice General Secretary Solomon Mchawi told Times Sport.

After series of negotiations between the two sides, on Saturday morning, the Area 30-based team announced that they had reached agreement with the Lali Luban based team over the deal of the their 2022 football season top goal-scorer and Wanderers have paid K7.5 Million for the player, beating Chawanangwa Gumbo’s K5 Million move from Ekwendeni Hammers to Nyasa Big Bullets.

“Blue Eagles FC wishes to inform all that it has reached an agreement with Mukuru Wanderers for the transfer of GADDIE CHIRWA on a record 7.5 Million Kwacha Deal.

“The agreement follows a chain of discussions, consultations and negotiations involving both parties.

“We wish Gaddie a prosperous new year and all the best for the future,” the announcement by Blue Eagles.

Wanderers are reported to have coughed around K11.5 Million to complete the signing of the player as Gaddie has signed a three-year contract and the signing fee is said to be K4 Million.

The TNM Super League and FDH Bank Cup Champions were also in the race for the striker who scored 11 goals in all competitions for Blue Eagles in the just-ended season but he opted for the Lali Luban based team.

Gaddie becomes the third signing for Mark Simon Harrison after signing Civo Service United’s talented striker, Christopher Jakama Kumwembe for a fee around K4 Million and Karonga United midfielder, Mphatso Kamanga.

Mark who replaced Alex Ngwira as the Head Coach is eager to build a strong team that will be capable of challenging for titles locally and in international competitions.

Chirwa joined Blue Eagles in 2020 from Chintheche United and has been at the Club for three seasons.
