Dedza legislator pleads with Chakwera to support MCP family
Member of Parliament for Dedza South constituency Ishmael Onani, has pleaded with President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to provide care and support to MCPs Mbumba -women, District Chairmen and veterans claiming that these people have all along been supported by the departed Rt. Hon. Dr. John Zenasi Ungapake Tembo.
Onani said at one time, some other members of the MCP started selling the property of the party for it to end a natural death but Tembo stood firm selling some of his property to support the party to its existence till this day.
He said the late Tembo has left a good work taking care of the MCP assuring the people that without Tembo, the MCP would have gone to eternal peace saying the late JZU has gone while still preaching unity in the party.
Speaking during Tembo”s burial ceremony held at Tembo’s home village Kaphala in the area of Senior Chief Kaphuka in Dedza on Wednesday, Onani claimed that in the party there are “Nkholokolo fishes” new members that are benefiting more than the owners of the party.
Onani said in 2013, there were many candidates who were vying for the position of MCP presidency for the 2014 elections and out of those, Tembo”s finger pointed at Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera because in him, there’s visionary leadership.
He advised those surrounding President Chakwera to advise him in good faith so that the unity which was prevailing in the party while Tembo was alive continues to make the party be growing bigger and bigger praying of no divisions because they are in government.
The legislator also advised President Chakwera’s inner circle to support the party and not to make others in the party feel pain to label Chakwera a bad leader while everything is being engineered by them but walking in the footsteps of Tembo preaching unity.
“The late Tembo was providing support to many people across the country and if you are not benefiting, don’t point fingers at Tembo, the man tried all of his best serving the party from dying,” said Onani.
He finally advised MCP family members that Tembo has died while the MCP is there to stay, appealing for support from all of its members to enjoy the party’s good fruits by making sure that the party’s Mbumba, District Chairmen and veterans not to suffer.
