CO Lt Colonel Ng’oma hails Moyale Sports teams perfomances in Salima
The 3rd Battalion of Malawi Rifles Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Peter Overton Ng’oma has thanked his soldiers for the heart and will to win that was shown in Salima during national army games.
Ng’oma said this on Monday during the Sports teams master parade at Wilson Square parade ground.
Ng’oma has since asked other soldiers to be dedicated during activities at the Barracks especially in sports.
“First of all let me thank and congratulate you all for the effort you shown through out the event and I saw you fighting to win, that’s the way to go, you shown that you really fight for your unit. I am so proud of you despite that we ended second. The spirit of hard working is what I know from Moyale Barracks,”
“Let’s not get tired, lets reflect our weaknesses so that we can improve in our next event, start identify good athletes now so that we can have enough time of preparations, I am ready to support you and I will make sure to give you everything to achieve the goal and to win the overall trophy next year,” said Ng’oma.
Two points (50 – 48) separated Moyale Barracks and Parachute battalion who emerged overall victors.
Moyale Barracks won trophies in Tag of War and Volleyball, and ended second position in Hockey and third position in Netball.
In 10,000m and 1500m Field track race Happy Mchelenje scooped first position while Dalitso Gunde won 400m race.
The Malawi Army Sports Festival happens every year at Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) in the Lakeshore district of Salima.
