President Dr Lazarus Mc Cathy Chakwera wLilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) continues to enhance capacity of the Agriculture sector which is the main anchor of the country’s economy.

Today, I presided over the first session of the 7th Congregation at which 514 of the 2162 graduands were awarded with academic accolades upon successful completion of studies in various disciplines; all aligned to Pillar 1 of the Malawi2063, Agriculture Productivity and Commercialisation.

In only eleven years, Luanar has transitioned from being a mere academic institution to a world-class centre of excellence with thriving partnerships in an ecosystem of fellow academic institutions, the private sector and the global development community.

I am particularly delighted with the path Luanar has taken to venture into large scale profit-making enterprises in line with my administration’s mega farms agenda.

Its 300-hectare teaching facility, Bunda Farm Limited, and several other ventures with private sector players in the cultivation & value addition to food and cash rops on large scale are a testament of this future-ready path.

Congratulations to all
