Catherine Nyangulu Poised to Take Over Mzuzu City South East as UTM Rallies Behind Her
All eyes are now on Catherine Nyangulu as she positions herself to become the next Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City South East under the United Transformation Movement (UTM) banner.
The momentum behind her candidacy became even more evident on Friday, when UTM President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe officially presented certificates to all shadow parliamentary and ward councillor candidates from the Northern Region during a high-energy ceremony. The event, held as part of the party’s preparations for the 2025 general elections, signaled UTM’s strong intent to dominate in the north—and Nyangulu is emerging as one of its leading lights.
A well-known figure in the constituency, Catherine Nyangulu has long been involved in grassroots mobilization and social impact projects. Her growing popularity, coupled with UTM’s rising influence in urban centers like Mzuzu, makes her a formidable force as the elections approach.
Speaking after receiving her certificate, Nyangulu expressed confidence in the party’s vision and pledged to bring meaningful development to the people of Mzuzu City South East.

“I am ready to serve with integrity and deliver real change. The people of this constituency deserve better roads, quality education, jobs for the youth, and stronger healthcare systems—and that’s exactly what we are fighting for,” she said.
The endorsement from Dr. Kabambe and the party’s leadership only solidifies her position as the front-runner in a constituency that is hungry for transformative leadership. With campaign activities gaining pace, the UTM faithful in Mzuzu are optimistic that Catherine Nyangulu will carry the party’s flag to victory come September 16, 2025.
