Businessman aids health centre with ambulance
A Lilongwe based business magnate from Karonga Wilson Mavwanya Sichali has donated an ambulance worth K11.8 million to Nyungwe Health Centre in the district.
In an interview on Saturday following the handover ceremony of the ambulance Sichali, said he donated the ambulance to ease mobility challenges encountered by the communities when seeking health services.

“I was touched by the long distances that people travel to the health centre hence the donation to ensure that people access health services without challenges,” he said.
Sichale has since advised the hospital management both at the district health office and at the health centre to ensure that the donation is used for its intended purpose of improving health service delivery.
On his part Senior Chief Mwelangombe, commended the businessman for the gesture.
“It is very difficult for people to use their own means of travel to Nyungwe Health Centre due to the distance and poor roads thus I’m overwhelmed with joy for this kind donation to my people,” said the senior chief.
Karonga District Council Principle Administrator Devalliers Mwale, said the donation is a great boost to maternal health service delivery in the district.
He noted most expecting women and children suffer because of lack of transport when they are referred to the district hospital, as such with the gesture of the ambulance will go a long way in improving the lives of the vulnerable groups.

Apart from the ambulance the businessman also donated furniture and fans to Nyungwe Police Unit valued at K350, 000.
