Blantyre will tomorrow host its first-ever Seafood Festival, bringing together food lovers for a unique culinary celebration of both ocean and freshwater delicacies.

The event has been organised by Umami Food in partnership with Café Five79 to promote seafood culture and raise awareness about the nutritional value of seafood.

Speaking ahead of the festival, Café Five79 Manager Blessings Phanga said the event is intended to encourage more people to include seafood in their diets by showcasing its health benefits and rich variety of flavours.

Phanga said the festival will offer visitors an opportunity to sample a wide selection of seafood dishes while learning more about the importance of seafood in healthy eating.

Guests can expect an exciting menu featuring sushi, seafood boils and Chambo, Malawi’s iconic freshwater fish, alongside other ocean and lake-inspired delicacies.

In addition to the food, the festival will feature live music, refreshing drinks and other entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere for families, friends and food enthusiasts.

Organisers expect the event to attract chefs, seafood lovers and members of the public eager to explore new culinary experiences.

The inaugural Seafood Festival is expected to become a significant addition to Blantyre’s growing calendar of food and lifestyle events while promoting greater appreciation of seafood as a healthy and enjoyable dining option.
