Former activist who joined frontline politics for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Redson Munlo, has congratulated President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for being re-elected President of the country in September 2025 without any competitor.

Munlo has predicted that by 11;00 P.M on the 16th September 2025 election date, former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is expected to concede defeat observing that those who have been elected from the DPP elective convention cannot match with the MCP creamed by President Chakwera.

He said those who will vote for Professor Mutharika are the ones siding with thieves, people terrorizing others wishing if Parliament approved an age limit bill for Mutharika not to compete with President Chakwera in the 2025 elections.

Speaking through an audio clip circulating in various social media platforms, Munlo has claimed that at 89 to 90 years old in 2025, Professor Mutharika is too old to campaign on the ground saying already, he failed to officially close the DPP Convention in Blantyre due to fatigue.

Munlo has borrowed words spoken by Mutharika at the DPP Convention that those who can take 10 bottles of Kachaso popularly known as “Ambuye mtengeni” cannot waste their time to vote for Professor Mutharika as this will be a waste of their time and votes.

In his compare and contrasting Mutharika and Chakwera, Mary Navicha and Jean Sendeza, Shadric Namalomba and Dr. Jessie Kabwila, Chimwendo Banda and Peter Mukhitho, Steven Malondera and Norman Chisale, Munlo said the DPP has already lost before Malawi goes to the polls in 2025.
“We have the cream of the cream, they cannot stand against youthful MCP campaigners on the ground,” said Munlo.

Giving his reactions, a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has advised Munlo not to waste his time and energy to talk of Professor Mutharika’s age limit claiming that the country has no law that is baring Mutharika from standing.

Kamphangala has also advised Munlo and the MCP that it is time-wasting to discuss about the DPP Convention and its outcomes claiming that Malawians are anxiously waiting for the MCP manifesto on what the party will do after being given another mandate to run government from 2025 to 2030.

He has observed that people who were against the age limit for Professor Mutharika were all expelled from the DPP, some have joined the MCP, and others, have formed their own political party, wondering why the MCP is talking about the DPP.

The MCP die-hard has asked Munlo to be the advisor of the party mainly in comforting those that that lost billions of Kwachas through dishing out money to the delegates for votes arguing that the losers are not happy besides pledging to support President Chakwera.
