Women from different denominations donates assorted items at Byzanzi Prison.

Women from different denominations in Dowa have cheered prisoners at Byzanzi prison in Dowa district and donated assorted items worth K600,000 to ease some of the challenges faced at the facility.

Speaking after providing, soap, sugar, salt, soya pieces and other items to the inmates, chairperson for the women’s grouping Mirriam Chingayere said they made contributions during district Women World Day of Prayers (WWDP) with a view of making an impact on the lives of the inmates.

“We hope our actions inspire a ripple effect of love, compassion and unity throughout our district and the entire nation,” said Mirriam Chingayere.

Meanwhile Public Relations officer, Sergeant Frank Masiku of Bzyanzi prison has welcomed the donation and thanked the women, adding that their visit has given hope to the inmates.

He has called on other stakeholders to emulate the women grouping by supporting the in at the facility.
