Vice President Jane Ansah has praised Temwa Chawinga for breaking barriers in international women’s football after the Malawian forward became the first African woman to finish among the Ballon d’Or’s top 10 players.

Chawinga’s achievement has brought fresh pride to Malawi, attracting recognition from Ansah, First Lady Professor Gertrude Mutharika and football fans celebrating the striker’s growing global reputation.

Ansah said Chawinga’s sustained performance over the past four years shows that Malawian athletes have the ability to challenge the world’s best when talent is matched with discipline, commitment and hard work.

As the football world looks towards the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, Ansah has encouraged young people to use Chawinga’s journey as motivation to pursue their ambitions and represent Malawi with confidence on the international stage.
