All Set for MAGLA Sports Festival in Mzuzu
Malawi Glassroot Soccer Development Foundation(MAGRA) is set to host soccer festival this Saturday at Mzuzu Stadium with the aim to encourage youngsters from wayward behaviour.
MAGRA in partnership with Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority, Malawi Schools Sports Association, Voltnet and Football Association of Malawi will use a total of 8 teams with both boys and girls having four teams on the day under the theme “Protect Your Goal Say No To Drugs”.
One of the directors of the Malawi Grassroots Soccer Development Foundation, Donnex Chilonga, says all preparations have been concluded with all 8 under 15 teams ready for the festival.
“We are 98 percent set to host these games as we want to promote untapped talents while teaching them better ways of leaving and how they can avoid drugs.” Said Chilonga.
Chilonda further commended the partners who have supported the foundation to make necessary preparations for the event.
“We received support from different partners and we are greatful for that.” Chilonga added.
Meanwhile, Blackson Malamula, President of the Malawi School Sports Association, said that despite the financial challenge, soccer fans should expect a top-notch and exciting game, as everything is set on their side.
Teams expected to participate include Zombwe, Kaviwale, Ching’ambo, Chibavi and St. Michael’s.
