Over 166,000 Candidates Set to Sit for 2025 JCE Exams
Final preparations are underway for the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations, which are scheduled to run from Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 12, 2025.
On Sunday morning, our reporter visited several schools in Blantyre and observed that arrangements were in full swing ahead of the exams.
In the Chilomoni Zone under the South West Education Division (SWED), over 340 candidates have been registered at a single cluster. One of the cluster centers, New Beginning Private Secondary School (Center No. 0802), is hosting all 340 students, with final preparations including seating arrangements and distribution of identity cards.
This comes amid efforts by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) to restore public confidence following past challenges in the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) exams, where some students sat for exams without identification. MANEB has assured the public that such issues have been addressed ahead of this year’s JCE.
According to national data from MANEB, a total of 166,123 candidates have registered for the 2025 JCE exams. These include 85,902 females and 80,221 males. Additionally, 5,218 students with visual impairments have been registered across PSLCE, JCE, and MSCE exams — 2,681 of them female and 2,537 male.
Blantyre District Council comprises 15 zones and 57 secondary schools.
