Dedza Police Station’s Community Policing Coordinator, Maxwell Chimphonda, has cautioned Dedza District residents against engaging in mob justice.

Speaking at the conclusion of a three-day initiative, Operation Basadi, spearheaded by female law enforcers, Chimphonda encouraged men to report gender-based violence (GBV) cases to the police. He emphasized that unreported GBV incidents are contributing to a rise in suicide rates among men.

Chimphonda also urged the public to desist from attacking police officers, highlighting their essential role in protecting lives and property.

Mercy Madhlopa, one of the operation’s leaders, praised the success of Operation Basadi, which included sweeping exercises, sensitization campaigns, awareness roadshows, foot patrols, and police checkpoints, resulting in several arrests.

Madhlopa further acknowledged the significant contributions of female officers in law enforcement, stating that the operation’s achievements demonstrate their dedication and ability to serve and protect the community effectively.
