Empowering Malawi’s Next Generation of Leaders: A Week of Transformation in Mponela
With the crisp morning air filled with anticipation, young leaders from across Malawi gathered in Mponela to embark on a journey that would shape not only their futures but the future of their nation.
At the helm of this transformative week-long training was Mwandida Theu, Coordinator of the Inclusive Democracy Academy (IDA) under Youth and Society (YAS). With passion and purpose, Theu announced the launch of the training, emphasizing its profound impact on the participants and on Malawi’s democratic landscape.

“As the Coordinator of the Inclusive Democracy Academy (IDA) under Youth and Society (YAS), I am thrilled to announce the official launch of a transformative week-long training in Mponera, aimed at empowering aspiring young leaders to shape Malawi’s future,” said Theu.
Her voice carrying both enthusiasm and determination.
“This intensive training program is equipping youth with the skills, knowledge, and strategies they need to participate actively in the 2025 elections and beyond.”

Participants, too, spoke of their gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead.
“This training is more than I expected,” said Chisomo Banda, a participant from Lilongwe.
“I came here wanting to make a difference, but now I understand how I can do it, and I’m leaving with tools, strategies, and a network of people who share my dreams.”
