Alinafe Chisenga, head of electoral operations in Salima, has expressed disappointment over the absence of monitors from various political parties at voter registration sites.

According to Chisenga, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is committed to transparency, making it crucial for monitors from all parties to be present.

The voter registration process, which typically begins with automated systems, has faced delays, but Chisenga reassures that the situation is under control with no significant issues so far.

However, the presence of monitors from only the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) at the Ntchentche registration site raises concerns about representation and oversight from other parties.

For a fair and transparent electoral process, the involvement of all political party monitors is vital. The MEC urges all parties to ensure their representatives actively participate in ongoing registration efforts.
