Airtel Malawi Announces Leadership Transition as Charles Kamoto Moves to Airtel Tanzania

Airtel Malawi plc has announced that its Managing Director, Charles Kamoto, will be transitioning to lead Airtel Tanzania plc, effective November 1, 2024.

In a public notice, Dr. Ngeyi Ruth Kanyongolo, Chairperson of Airtel Malawi plc Board of Directors, praised Kamoto’s instrumental role in driving the company’s growth and success since joining in 2014.

His notable achievements include: Leading Airtel Malawi’s listing on the Malawi Stock Exchange in 2020, Driving profitable growth and increasing shareholder value, Establishing a solid foundation for future growth and Building a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

Finance Director Abdul Khayyum Shaik will assume the role of Acting Managing Director until a substantive appointment is made.

Shaik brings over 20 years of experience in finance and telecommunications.
