Clinical Jenda United Beat Ekwaiweni to Maintain Top Spot
A Wyson Nyirenda brace secured Jenda United’s 2-0 victory over bottom-placed Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy in the NRFA Simso Mzuzu 12 Sponsors league on Sunday at Ekwaiweni ground.
In the first half, a defensive slip allowed Nyirenda to capitalize with a shot in the box, beating home side keeper Kalagho. Despite Ekwaiweni’s aggressive second-half performance, with three defenders at the back, their finishing was blunt.
A 76th-minute counterattack from Jenda United forced Kalagho to clear away Chihana’s shot, and a follow-up throw-in yielded Nyirenda’s second goal, a powerful header from an unmarked position.
Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy coach Omega Mhone attributed the defeat to pressure and praised Jenda United. “We must work on these costly minor mistakes. We have hope things will change.”
Jenda United coach Obvious Banda was delighted with the hard-fought win. “Our plan worked well. We used counterattacks, and it paid off. We must plan each game as it comes.”
