President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP), Bantu Saunders Jumah, has criticized former President Joyce Banda for being part of a failed government headed by President Lazarus Chakwera.

Jumah expressed his disappointment that partners in the Tonse Alliance government, such as the Peoples Party, Mafunde, and Peoples Democratic Party, are now speaking out against the MCP government, labeling President Chakwera as a failure for not delivering social services.

Jumah noted that senior members of these parties hold strategic positions in the MCP-led Tonse Alliance and are now standing up against President Chakwera as elections approach. He argued that these parties should take responsibility for their role in the Alliance, saying that if President Chakwera has failed, they too have failed.

Speaking through a Revolutionary voice on social media platforms, Jumah said that Madam Dr. Joyce Banda had previously praised President Chakwera, stating that international banks had opened their doors for Malawi, and that he would perform wonders in November 2024. However, Jumah observed that instead of performing wonders, President Chakwera has failed to fix the broken systems in government, and the country’s economy has collapsed with no sign of recovery.

Jumah also criticized the appointment of four people from Kamuzu Banda’s family to Chakwera’s cabinet, as well as the appointment of a husband and wife as ministers. He argued that Muvi wa Chilungamo was the first to criticize the government for these actions, and that President Chakwera has failed to take corrective action.

“If President Chakwera has failed, you were part of the team that made him a failure. You cannot be trusted for your words that Chakwera has failed. You are fooling people,” said Jumah.

He concluded that Madam Dr. Joyce Banda and the Alliance partners have been quiet and silent, watching as the government has become destructive, and now they are turning against Chakwera, saying that Malawi has a leader, not a President.
