Mubas Embark on Tasks Towards University top World Ranking

Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences(Mubas) has embarks on steps to secure world University’s better ranking.

Speaking during a commencement of Research and Innovation week on 14 August,2023 which will end on 16,same month, Mubas Vice Chancellor Nancy Chitera said it is high time for the university to appear on the world rank by taking extra miles to meet the needs through research and innovation engagement.

“Mubas has been doing well in it’s endovours ,but still needs more for the world ranking,this is why we are here today revising our research and innovations outputs as are seeking solutions to challenges so as to map a better move” Said Chancellor Chitera.

Chitera further said the innovation week is one of the programmes which they are implementing to provide solutions to the problems people face while attempting to take the University to world rank.

And National Commissioner of Science and Technology (NCST)Acting Director General, Gift Kadzamira said activities such as the ones in the research and innovation Week under the theme”General knowledge and Innovations for Sustainable Development” may help Malawi attain a better world ranking on the world research and innovations index.

She disclosed that Malawi is ranked 107 out of 132 countries on the Global Innovation Index, a development she described as lowerly positioned and needs more interventions to qualify for better world Universities’ rank.

Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences(Mubas),formerly Polytechnic was established in 1965 as a constituent college of Unima under the act Number 19 of 2019 and was officially de-linked from Unima in 2012.
