President for Alliance for Democracy (AFFORD), Enock Chakufwa Chihana has likened Malawi to the “Titanic” ship on water without a captain saying the leaders are failing their duties.
The President was speaking during the party’s 30th anniversary celebrations in Nchalo, Chikwawa on Sunday.
Chihana said Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s Government has failed to fulfill the campaign promises such ending ending corruption, cheap farm inputs, job creation and he said Malawi is sinking.
“We are in the “titanic” ship with no captain to provide the necessary direction and basic needs to run a thriving economy and uplift people’s lives.
“Had it been that Malawi was an institution, it could have been shut down owing to shortage of forex, fuel, fertiliser and food for ultra-poor citizens,” said Chihana.
He added by telling the masses that he is here to end the problem if once given a chance to lead Malawians in the next elections.
“I am here to provide solutions and I will demonstrate this in the first 100 days upon being elected to office in 2025,” he added.
The party was holding it’s rally in Lower Shire after holding the same rallies in three cities, Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu and the rally was attended by masses.
The party was the first to fight for Multiparty democracy and was formed by Chakufwa Simbiyamoto Chihana in 1993.
