Vice-President Jane Ansah warns against social media impersonation

Dr. Ansah disowns a fake Facebook account spreading misleading content about her office.

Malawi’s Vice-President, Dr. Jane Ansah, has publicly addressed the emergence of a fraudulent Facebook page created in her name.

The fake account recently published an article concerning the Office of the Minister of State and the Office of the Second Vice-President, prompting concern from her office.

Dr. Ansah told local media that the page is unauthorised and does not represent her views or official communications.

She urged the public to ignore any content from the impersonator and to refrain from sharing it.

Her office has formally reported the fake account to Meta, seeking its immediate removal.

Dr. Ansah also called on citizens to report any suspicious social media pages to prevent the spread of misinformation.

She reassured the public that all verified updates regarding her work and government activities are shared only through her official social media channels.

Highlighting the risks of online impersonation, Dr. Ansah emphasized that such acts can mislead citizens and damage public trust.

The Vice-President concluded by reiterating her commitment to transparency and ensuring accurate information reaches Malawians.
