Sports Council calls for support as Malawi Youth Games commence

The Third Edition of Malawi Youth Games started yesterday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe where alot of students from different zones are competing in competitions like football,netball, athletics just to mention afew.
Speaking during the opening ceremony President for Malawi Schools Sports Association Blackson Malamula said that they are making sure that they are having right participants in tournament.
“We have a database in the system when a child starts school so we know the ages of the students in all schools so we will make sure that there is no age cheating and also we are making sure that we keep the data safe so that we can be monitoring the progress”. Said Malamula
Malumala continued to say that they are expecting a good and injury free tournament and expecting alot of people to come and witness these games.
Representing Malawi Council of Sports as guest of honour Young Chimodzi said that this tournament is giving them hope for the future of sports in Malawi.
” Yes we have achieved alot as you can see alot of youngsters are in different teams including those who participated in the second edition which give us hope that our sports is going in the right direction as we are able to keep records intact with the help from our friends from FAM,NAM,AMM.” Said Chimodzi
Chimodzi also called on companies to come and support sports in Malawi.
“We would like to have many sponsors coming in and support these games like back in the days we had Cocacola who were very commited to up lifting the game in Malawi so if companies can come forward our future of sports will be bright.” Lamented Chimodzi
Over 1000 students from different divisions are participating in this years tournament which will come to an end on sunday in Lilongwe.
