Police launch manhunt for murder suspect at Jenda

Police at Jenda in Mzimba district have instituted a man hunt for Ponda Dhlozi on suspicion that he murdered his 58-year-old uncle Gifton Dhlozi.

Glifton mate his fate during the night of August 27, 2023 around 19:00 hours at Kaluwe in the district.

It is believed that his death follows witchcraft accusations from his nephew Ponda.

On that fateful night Gifton went out to the toilet where the suspect took advantage and hacked him at the back with an axe.

He recognized the suspect as he was called by his name a thing which prompted him to bolt from the scene.

The victim called for help and was rushed to Jenda Rural Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the report, officers from Jenda Police Station visited the hospital where it was noted that the axe went right through his spine.

Postmortem conducted at the facility singled out severe loss of blood as cause of death.

Meanwhile, investigations are under way to apprehend the suspect. On this note, Police ask members of the community to come forth if they have any information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Gifton Dhlozi hailed from Alick Dhlozi Village, Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in Mzimba District.
