MNCS Suspended all sporting events

Malawi National Council of sports (MNCS) has suspended all sporting activities following the declaration of 14 days of mourning by president Lazarus Chakwera after Malawi was hit by cyclone Freddy.
According to a letter dated March 17,2023 and signed by its Chairperson Dingiswayo Madise says the council has decided to suspend the spotting activities in accordance with the declaration of 14 days national mourning in the country.
The council has also said that all associations should take note of the suspension and they have also added that the council will come and tell the associations and nation when the sports activities will resume.
Malawi has been hit hard by Cyclone Freddy in the southern region and about 10 district has been affected.
According to Department of Disaster management Affairs (Dodma) report about 438 people have died and 79,602 households has been displaced whereby 918 have injured and 282 people are still missing as a result of cyclone Freddy.
Meanwhile the council has advise all already planned games for this weekend to go on.
