Flames striker, Gabadinho Mhango is on a hunt for a new Club as he has mutually parted ways with Amazulu FC.

The Kwazulu Natal based side announced on Friday evening that they have parted ways with 15 players ahead of the new season.

Amazulu will kick-start their 2023-24 campaign with an away game against Royal AM.

“The club AmaZulu had a very successful pre- season programme spanning over 6 weeks,” AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu said.

“This saw players within the club’s books as well as those from our youth structures, coupled with a few trialists from the PSL and hopefuls from abroad all getting a lookin against the playing philosophy of Usuthu.

“We played 12 matches against strong KZN and eSwatini opposition, 11 of which we won. We are pleased to announce the signing of all our new players, on contracts ranging from 3 to 4 years.

“In due course, during the current transfer window,we will announce further changes in the team, as and when such changes occur.”

The president further extended best wishes to the following players that have since parted ways with the club, namely:

  1. Guily Manziba 2. Rally Bwalya 3. Lehlohonolo Majoro, 4. Keegan Buchanan, 5. Dumisani Zuma, 6. Jean Noel Amonome, 7. Thendo Mukumela, 8. Lankie Khoza, 9. Thabo Qalinge, 10. Sbongakonke Ndlovu, 11. Kabelo Makola, 12. Samkelo Mgwazela, 13. Sphelele Zulu, 14. Jody February (loaned from Sundowns), 15. Gabadinho Mhango.

It was reported earlier this transfer window that the 30-year-old was facing a bleak future at the Club with changes that were made in the technical panel.

Mhango was offered to Kaizer Chiefs, according to his agent Mike Makaab.

Chiefs have been strongly linked with the experienced attacker who is looking for a team where he is guaranteed regular game time. His agent Makaab has now revealed his plans for Mhango.

Let me set the record straight. The player has been offered to Chiefs, let’s respect the decision they make as a football club,” Makaab stated.

Initially, the agent had revealed the Malawi international had been offered to several clubs. It remains interesting to see whether Amakhosi will be the next destination for the former Orlando Pirates man especially after the Glamour Boys denied reports they were interested in the player.

After the exit of Kgaogelo Sekgota and Khama Billiat’s refusal to extend his stay, Chiefs might be forced to sign the Flames striker to boost their attacking department.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has remained coy on the potential signings of Thabo Cele and Gabadinho Mhango.

We’ve been through pre-season and we’re working on the players we have, if there’s the interest of other players, I think that’s more of an administrative issue, but tactically we are working on the players we have,” Ntseki said when asked about Cele and Mhango.

“We’re giving confidence to the players we have – yes everyone will have the interest to come and be part of Kaizer Chiefs and also in terms of our recruitment and scouting, we’ll always be looking at quality players that can come and join the club.”

“The window is open until 1 September and I think we’ll play 10 games before the window closes, and as of now we’re happy with the squad we’ve recruited and obviously, if ever there will be a need to beef up the squad, we’ll do that,” he added.

“But remember at the beginning of the season, all that we have, will be given a chance and we’ll also be profiling them accordingly – we’re just hoping that we’ll hit the ground running and we get a good performance from all of them in the team.”

Moroccan giants, Raja Casablanca are also said to be interested in signing the former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets striker, according to Soccer Laduma.

Super Sport United and Young Africans Sports Club are some of the Clubs that registered their interest in the Flames deadly striker.

Mhango moved to South Africa in 2013 when he joined Bloemfontein Celtic from Nyasa Big Bullets. In his debut season at Celtic, he scored nine goals and finished as the club’s top goal scorer.

He was voted as Celtic’s Players’ player of the year. Apart from Celtic, Wits and Pirates, he also played for Golden Arrows on loan where he scored five goals.
