In a shocking revelation, a sinister plan by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to rig the upcoming elections has been exposed.

The party’s scheme involves manipulating the electoral process to ensure their victory, and it’s a story that reads like a political thriller.

The plan begins with the removal of Justice Chifundo Kachale as Chair of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

Kachale had publicly spoken out against the use of National ID as the only proof of citizenship for voter registration, deeming it discriminatory.

His stance clearly didn’t sit well with the MCP, who saw him as a threat to their plans.

Following Kachale’s removal, the MCP instructed the Judicial Service Commission to recommend the daughter of former MCP President, Late John Tembo, to take over as MEC Chair.

Her role is to vehemently oppose any moves by political parties to use alternative forms of identification for voter registration, effectively paving the way for the MCP’s manipulation of the electoral process.

But that’s not all – the MCP has also instructed the National Registration Bureau (NRB) to register 4 million children under the age of 16, with their registration forms altered to show they will be 18 by September 2025, making them eligible to vote.

This move is clearly designed to inflate the MCP’s voter base and sway the election in their favor.

Furthermore, the MCP has colluded with central region chiefs through the Council of Chiefs (CHEFO) to ensure their plan succeeds.

The party has also deployed its cadres as interns in all registration centers across the country, making it easy for them to manipulate the registration process.

In their stronghold, they have ensured a steady supply of registration materials, while in the South and Northern regions, they have provided faulty machines, making it difficult for people to register.

To add insult to injury, the NRB is operating from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), making it easy for the MCP to control the number of people who register for the National ID.

With the law in place that only those with National ID will be allowed to register to vote, it’s clear that the MCP is trying to restrict the voting rights of certain groups of people.

In addition, the MCP has also bribed some opposition party leaders to defect to their party, further weakening the opposition’s chances of winning.

They have also used their control of the state-owned media to spread propaganda and discredit their opponents.

Moreover, the MCP has instructed the Malawi Police Service to crack down on opposition rallies and arrest their leaders, citing trumped-up charges.

This has created a climate of fear and intimidation, making it difficult for the opposition to campaign freely.

As the election approaches, it’s clear that the MCP will stop at nothing to ensure their victory.

But the people of Malawi will not be silenced, and they will demand a free and fair election.
