Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Vows to Intensify Stakeholder Engagements for 2025 Polls

MEC Chairperson, Anabel Mtalimanja, reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to stakeholder engagement throughout the 2025 General Elections process.

Speaking at an Election Monitoring Device (EMD) training in Mponela, Dowa, Mtalimanja emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement in ensuring electoral credibility and confidence.

“MEC’s stakeholder engagements are grounded in the legal framework. Our doors remain open for clarification and consideration of any issues,” she stated.

Mtalimanja highlighted the critical role of EMD technicians in providing technical support for smooth voter registration.

Technician Lanken Mwambira praised the training, saying, “It has enhanced our technical expertise, ensuring a seamless voter registration process.”

The first phase of voter registration begins on October 21, 2024, covering districts in the center (Nkhotakota, Ntchisi, Salima, and Dedza), north (Chitipa, Karonga, and Mzuzu City), and south (Balaka, Chiradzulu, Neno, Phalombe, and Mulanje).
