Luwira community vows to combat crime
People from Luwira under Sub Traditional Authority Chawanika in Rumphi have challenged to work with police in fighting crime in the area.
The call was made on Thursday August 10, 2023 at the said area.
The Officer In-charge for Rumphi Police Station Mr Pherson Nthenda Assistant Commissioner of Police emphasized that fighting against crime is everyone’s responsibility hence collaboration from all sectors.
He further appealed to the gathering to report any criminal activities that may arise in the area to enhance maximum security.
The OC further challenged Luwira community members to avoid taking laws into their own hands since this may compromise evidence of the matters under investigations.
Nthenda also urged community members to take part in following cases lodged at police. On this he emphasized that some people take advantage of suspects under police custody that they need money for them to be released.He therefore urged them to inquire first before doing any transactions.
“Be good citizens, interact with police and leaders in your area whenever you’re are not understanding especially on security matters,” Nthenda said.

On his part, Sub Traditional Authority Chawanika hailed the police for unveiling the security tips, saying they will relay the same to other areas.
In conclusion, the Station Executive chair Arrow Muvi Nyirenda told the people to be at the forefront in implementing security tips at all times.
