Karonga Coach Eyes a Top Six League Finish….
New Karonga United coach Kondwani Ikwanga has said he is optimistic of steering the team to a top six finish in the TNM Super league.
Ikwangwa who is preparing to take charge of his first competitive match on Saturday away to Moyale Barracks FC at the Mzuzu Stadium replaced Christopher Nyambose who left the club to take over fellow top flight side Wakawaka Tigers.
In an interview the tactician, said he has assembled a youthful squad that is ready to take on and compete with any side in the league.
“I know we faced our struggles last season but with this team the sky is the limit as we have a very youthful talented squad that will surprise a few with their talents,” he said.
Ikwangwa has since urged the crocodiles of Karonga supporters to be patient and give their total backing to the youthful squad that will play for the club this season.
On his part newly installed club Captain for Karonga Josiah Duwa, also expressed confidence of a successful league campaign saying the team had worked hard during the off season hence were ready for the kick-off.
However Karonga based Football analyst Obert Mkandawire, said he expects another difficult league season for Karonga United considering that they are developing another squad.
“I do not expect the graph to rise much compared to last season hence face an uphill task to qualify for even the Airtel top 8 as it appears they have not replaced stars that left for other clubs because to develop another strong squad that can compete requires time and resources,” he explained.
Following an encounter with Moyale Barracks Karonga will then face their neighbors Chitipa United in the derby at the Karonga Stadium next week Sunday in their second league match.
