Karonga-Chitipa Cultural Festival Postponed to early November
The 2024 Karonga-Chitipa Cultural Festival has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the organizers’ control.
Initially scheduled for October 18-19, 2024, the event will now take place on November 1-2, 2024.
According to Ndongolera Mwangupili, General Secretary of the organizing group, all other arrangements remain the same.
The festival aims to preserve and promote the culture and traditions of the Karonga-Chitipa community, particularly for the benefit of the younger generation. This year’s theme is “Unity, Respect, and Justice.”
The festival has received support from various stakeholders, including the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA), which donated MK5 million.
The event is part of efforts to promote cultural heritage in Malawi, with other cultural groupings also holding their annual festivals.
